DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Fluffy flakes of snow started falling across North Texas on Friday morning, and quickly created slick spots on area roads. Traffic along DFW highways slowed to a crawl as surfaces turned white with another shot of winter.

The Texas Department of Transportation and North Texas Tollway Authority started checking bridges and overpasses for places that were potentially dangerous, and treating all spots that were found. TxDOT had already been pre-treating roads with brine in the overnight hours.

Freezing rain and sleet had already made roads icy earlier this week, but that had finally melted away.

Drivers on Friday said that they did not mind a little bit of pretty snowfall, but hazardous driving conditions can change everything. “Give us some spring,” said driver Kelly Morris. “It snows enough for a little snowman today, then I guess I can deal with it a little better.”

“I’m a little worried,” admitted driver Randi Kimmel. “Everyone, just be careful and chill out and no rush.”

Natalie Galindo from TxDOT spoke with CBS 11 News on the phone Friday morning, and again cautioned drivers to go slow in snowy or icy conditions or stay off of the roads altogether.
