GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) – There is lots of flames and smoke billowing over the streets of Garland.

The blaze sent members of the Garland Fire Department to the 500 block of Shepherd Drive.

When the units arrived at Ocean Star Metals they found piles of old appliances and junk burning. The 1-alarm blaze produced more plumes of thick, black smoke than flames.

Ocean Star is a scrap metal and recycling company.

It didn’t take long for crews to get the fire under control. There are no reports of injuries.
