HURST (CBSDFW.COM) – An elevator accident has left a worker in Hurstseriously injured.

A 911 call was placed just before 5 p.m.  The person reported that a man had fallen down an elevator shaft. The fire department immediately responded.

According to sources, the man was actually in the elevator shaft doing some type of repair when he leaned over and a moving elevator struck him in the head.

As it stands, it isn’t clear if the man fell a great distance down the shaft or if he was on top of the elevator as it was going down.

The man, who authorities have not identified, was taken by CareFlite air ambulance to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. His condition isn’t known.

CBS 11 News has crews on the ground and will have more information as it become available.
