DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Two Dallas officers were terminated, in part, for their personal relationships following disciplinary hearings on Wednesday afternoon.
Sgt. Jorge Guzman was fired after Internal Affairs discovered that he was involved in an “inappropriate relationship” with a Dallas Police Explorer for nearly a year and was socializing with Dallas Police Explorers outside of department approved activities. The Dallas Police Explorer program is for young men and women from 14 to 21 years of age. An investigation also concluded that Guzman logged onto his computer 8 times over the course of a month and a half. He also did not follow a direct order from a supervisor months later in October.
Guzman was hired in September 1999 and was assigned to Central Patrol Division.
Officer Daniel Razo was fired following an investigation that showed he was involved with a person of immoral character from April 2012 until April 2014. Internal Affairs also determined Razo used city equipment for personal reasons and provided law enforcement information to an unauthorized person. Razo was also involved in an incident to which the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department was called to respond.
Razo was hired in January 2009 and assigned to the Southwest Patrol Division.
Both officers will have a right to appeal.
