ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Arlington Police are investigating a fatal shooting at a home near Matlock and Interstate 20.

Officers tell CBS 11 that a homeowner in the 900 block of High Crest, shot and killed a burglary suspect Wednesday afternoon.

Police tell us  he was home around 4:15, when he heard a loud noise around and confronted two men in his backyard.

He confronted them, and police say he shot and killed one of them.  The other was taken into custody when officers arrived.

CBS 11 crews spotted the possible homeowner being checked out by an ambulance, and he was eventually taken to the hospital.  People at the scene say he was agitated after the shooting and had elevated blood pressure.

Crime tape surrounded the home several hours after the shooting.  Police will search the home and forward any evidence to a grand jury to determine if the shooting was justified.
