NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – If you’ve been on CBSDFW.COM or Facebook you’ve probably seen it. The emotional video of a Texas nurse and her patient that has been shared on just about every news feed in the nation.
The video was shot in Denton, but is touching the hearts of people around the world.
A teen paralyzed for nearly two weeks had a surprise for the nurse who inspired her during rehabilitation. The video went viral, drawing some 4.5 million views in just five days on YouTube.
Deanna Lynn Baker wrote. “Love this. That nurse has such passion God bless her and God bless the young girl too.”
Jane Tavarez agreed and wrote, “So touching to know that still in today’s world we still have nurses that still have that passion.” Nicole Mitchell-Capers said, “Yep. Bring on the tears! So sweet and so great!”
A group of nursing students said they understand the health care worker’s bond with her patient. Student Kimbery Munoz said, “Even though we’re students, we get emotionally connected to patients too. I still remember my first patient a year and a half ago. So, that’s nice!”
But they say the broad appeal of the video is the message it sends — hope.
“I see ailing patients who can’t walk. They can’t sit up. And for somebody to see that and maybe they have a significant other going through that, they’ll be like, ‘well maybe one day we’ll be to this point,’” student Stephanie Al-Ajba said. “Instead of saying I’m just going to roll over and not do anything maybe they’ll say, ‘I’m going to get up and try because maybe this will be me tomorrow.’”
The video shows a moment of inspiration and joy that now has been shared worldwide.
