DALLAS (CBSDFW) – As we approach the NFL Draft, which starts Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys have taken care of one important piece of business.

The team has announced a contract extension for punter Chris Jones that will keep him signed thru 2017.

Jones has been the Cowboys full time punter since 2012 and has a  career 45.0-yard average (40.0-yard net average) on 156 attempts.

The next order of business is figuring out who the Cowboys will draft come Thursday.
