WACO(CBSDFW.COM) – CBS 11 News has learned that Waco Police are looking into whether criminal charges can be filed against the management of Twin Peaks.

That’s after the shootout between rival biker gangs and police left nine dead and 18 wounded.

Police explained Monday there were actually two separate confrontations Sunday, one inside and one outside the Twin Peaks.

Authorities found three bodies in the back parking lot, four in the front and one actually behind the restaurant next door.

18 officers were stationed outside the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco when the fight between rival biker gangs spilled into the parking lot.

“Those officers reaction and the reaction to a hostile and possibly deadly situation saved our citizens lives yesterday afternoon,” says Waco Police Sergeant W. Patrick Swanton.

170 bikers have been booked into the McLennan County Jail.  Their bonds are set at $1,000,000 a piece.  They are charged with Engaging in Organized Crime that resulted in Capital Murder.  Nine bikers died and 18 wounded.
But police say it’s undetermined how many were shot by officers.

“Those officers quickly gained control of a very violent scene,” says Sgt. Swanton.

Police separated the five biker gangs and took them to the Waco Convention Center.

Officers have sealed off and shutdown the shopping center around the restaurant not just to preserve the crime scene but to also protect officers who have reportedly been threatened by other biker gang members.

“We did see a presence of bikers coming to Waco yesterday,” says Sgt. Swanton.  “It was our intelligence that told us they were headed this way and were trying to get some payback whether it was against us or rival bike members.”

CBS 11 has learned all of the dead are members of the Bandidos or Cossacks motorcycle groups.

As for the restaurant which has been criticized for allowing so many bikers to congregate here, Twin Peaks revoked the owners franchise agreement Monday.
