ALEDO (CBSDFW.COM) – A multi-vehicle fatality wreck closed eastbound Interstate 20 Wednesday afternoon.
It happened on I-20 near the FM 1187 exit in Parker County. Two people died and another two were injured.
Upon arrival Troopers determined four vehicles were involved in the crash. A black Nissan pickup was traveling west on I-20, when it crossed out of the travel lanes onto the left shoulder, over the cable barrier and into the east bound lanes of I-20.
The Nissan pickup struck an eastbound Chevrolet suburban head-on. After the initial collision, the Nissan pickup was struck head-on a second time by an eastbound Truck Tractor semi trailer rig. After the Chevrolet suburban was struck by the Nissan pickup, the suburban was rear-ended by an eastbound Buick passenger car.
The driver and the passenger of the Nissan pickup died at the scene. The male driver of the Chevrolet suburban was transported to Texas Health Resources Harris Hospital via air ambulance with serious injuries. The female driver of the Buick was transported via ground ambulance to Harris as well. The 4-year-old passenger in the Buick was in a booster seat and wasn’t hurt. The driver of the semi was uninjured.
All lanes of eastbound I-20 at FM 1187 were still closed at the time of this report. All the eastbound lanes are open but traffic is slow in the area.
Police haven’t said how long eastbound lanes will remain closed.
