DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Gunfire rang through a quiet downtown Dallas early Saturday as a gunman — allegedly taking revenge — riddled police headquarters with bullets.

Alleged gunman James Boulware had a history of criminal run-ins, custody battles, and family disputes with his mother. But it didn’t end there; Boulware made repeated threats against judges involved in his domestic abuse cases.

Judge Kim Cooks was one of those judges; last week Cooks signed an order granting custody of his 11-year-old son to his mother, “When I would see him in the court, my heart would literally drop. He would look at you like he wanted to kill you… and one minute he’s fine… then the next minute he’s speaking in a rage about something that he’s angry about.”

It was just last night that Boulware called to harass her Cooks.
