FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) – A Euless was sentenced to 10 years probation and $5,000 dollars in restitution for the 2014 torture of a then-3-month old Shepherd-mix puppy.
Prosecutors say Terrell Dalmar Hill was found guilty Thursday of animal cruelty for hitting, kicking and pouring boiling water on the puppy back in March 2014.
Euless police found out about the abuse after responding to 911 calls from Hill’s then girlfriend alleging that he had assaulted her.
“We made a vigorous appeal to the jury for prison time for Mr. Hill for the cruel, callousness of his crime, and we believe he should have been incarcerated” said Tarrant County Assistant District Attorney Ashlea Deener.
According to prosecutors, if Hill violates any condition of his probation he could be facing up to 5-years in prison.
“Although the jury’s decision is not the punishment we hoped for, we are glad that Mr. Hill will now have a felony conviction on his record, and be forced to check in with a probation officer every month for the next decade of his life.” Deener added, “We hope that will serve as a regular reminder to him of the harm he’s caused.”
Since this ordeal, ‘Riley’ the puppy now has a new home. “The bright side here is that Riley is doing so well, and has found a loving and compassionate home”said Deener.
