DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — A man was taken into custody in far north Dallas early Tuesday morning after Dallas SWAT officers responded to the scene.

The incident began along Knoll Trail just south of Keller Springs Road around 1:20 a.m.

Dallas Police responded to the Kensington Square Apartments regarding a man threatening to harm himself.

Upon arriving, officers made contact outside the apartments with the female who called 911. She told police that she had a verbal altercation with a male living in the apartment and was concerned for his safety.

Officers made several attempts to contact the male, but the man refused to answer the door. SWAT was brought in due to the possible involvement of a firearm.

After a four hour wait and contact with negotiators, the man surrendered to police.

No one was injured. The man was transferred to a facility for evaluation, according to police.
