DALLAS (1080 KRLD) – A huge drug-conspiracy indictment was unsealed in Dallas charging 46 people with heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine distribution, and some of the action took place in secure areas of DFW International Airport.
The 46 will be making court appearances starting today in a massive investigation detailed in the unsealed indictment.
Most of the defendants are charged with at least one count of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute. Eight defendants are charged with at least one count of money laundering or conspiracy to commit money laundering.
The charge accuses the group of peddling the heavy drugs heroin, meth and cocaine as far back as 2011. And the indictment says four were nabbed in an undercover sting at DFW International Airport where they had jobs in secure areas.
What they didn’t know, the indictment says, is they were dealing with undercover FBI agents.
Former federal prosecutor Matthew Orwig says trying to get past security at a major airport is a big deal.
The indictment says cocaine was carried aboard commercial flights in 2-pound packages to Las Vegas, Chicago, Newark New Jersey, San Francisco and Wichita Kansas.
