Flight 1658 was about to take off from DFW, headed to Chicago O’Hare Airport, when possible smoke in the cabin was detected.  The emergency exits were deployed as the MD-80 aircraft sat at gate A14.

“Our fleet service team was still on the ramp and assisted passengers and crew with a successful evacuation of the aircraft,” said American Airlines spokesperson Andrea Huguely in a statement.
