AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) – A video game mogul wants to build a “personal rapid transit” system in Austin similar to pods used at London’s Heahtrow Airport.
Richard Garriott’s $106 million plan for the city would include 20 stops in and around the University of Texas at Austin. A well-known figure in the video game industry, Garriott was originally a game designer and programmer and now engages in various aspects of computer game development and business.
The battery-powered, self-driving cars will seat up to six people.
Officials said traffic is so bad in the city, they’re open to all suggestions.
