TUCSON, Ariz. (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — U.S. Marshals say they have located a sex offender on the run from North Texas in southern Arizona.
The U.S. Marshals Service announced Saturday that 27-year-old John Henry Pelser, of Irving, is in a Tucson jail but will be extradited.
Authorities say Pelser is facing a charge of aggravated sexual assault for allegedly attacking a female associate earlier this month and holding her captive for two days.
Pelser has a previous conviction for sexually assaulting a child.
U.S. Marshals in Tucson conducting surveillance saw Pelser arriving at a family member’s home Friday and arrested him. He now faces charges in Pima County for failing to register and obtain identification as a sex offender. He also has an outstanding warrant for probation violation in his home state.
Recently, Brent Allen Jozefkowicz, a registered sex offender, escaped from a Fort Worth halfway house and was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot in South Carolina. Officials in North Texas arrested four people for allegedly assisting in Jozefkowicz’s escape.
