DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The search is on for a gunman in Dallas after a robbery and shooting. It took place at around 2:00 a.m. early Friday in the 2800 block of Seevers Avenue, but that is only one of the scenes where police have focused their investigation.

According to authorities, the actual shooting took place in a residential neighborhood located in south Dallas. Somebody with a gun approached a man who was sitting inside of a Ford pickup truck outside of his home. The suspect pulled up from behind and demanded the man’s possessions, which the victim did turn over.

But as the suspect drove away, he fired fired shots at the driver’s side of the truck. The victim was hit in the back, and injured. He called 911 from his vehicle.

But he did not remain at the scene. First responders found him about a mile away, in the parking lot of a McDonald’s location near the intersection of Interstate-35E and Kiest Boulevard. The victim had passed out inside of the truck before he could get inside to seek help.

The man is now recovering at a nearby hospital in stable condition. He has not yet been identified.

Meanwhile, police are trying to find the suspect and determine if the victim knew the shooter, or if the man was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
