WAXAHACHIE (CBSDFW.COM) – Thursday the family of Adele Chavez, who is still hospitalized after a house explosion Monday in Waxahachie, and Jaime Rodriguez who was also injured, issued this statement thanking emergency responders and asking for prayers:

On behalf of Adele Chavez and her brother Jaime Rodriguez and the entire family, thank you to everyone for all the love that has been shown and all the prayers that have been prayed. They are so deeply grateful for the neighbors who quickly came to their rescue, prayed with them and helped them. Their love goes out to each of you.

Thank you to all of the first responders, the police officers, firefighters, EMS, Care Flight, Parkland Hospital nurses, doctors, and ER workers. The family will never forget your professionalism and kindness at the time of their greatest need. Each of them thanks you from the bottom of their heart.

Adele had surgery late Tuesday evening. She is resting and is still in ICU. Jaime is doing better. They both still have procedures and rehab to go through for many days to come. The family asks that you keep praying for the healing process that will take a long period of time.

There is a help fund being set up at the Citizens National Bank of Texas in Ennis. You may contact them to make a direct donation under the name of Adele Chavez. Once again thank you for everything.
