FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Police made a gruesome discovery as they were investigating a grass fire in Fort Worth late Monday night. The fire started just off of the roadway, and officers patrolling the area saw it burning. As they approached the flames, a body was found in the burning field. Firefighters were able to quickly stomp out the blaze while homicide detectives and arson investigators were both called to the location. Police are now trying to figure out how the body ended up being involved in this grass fire.
The victim’s name has not been released. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will identify the individual and determine an official cause of death. Law enforcement officials had shut down the roadway early Tuesday morning while conducting their investigation, but traffic is now being allowed to pass through once again.
