FLOWER MOUND (CBS11) – It was a long deployment, but Flower Mound Navy Airmen Ryan Conley says it was all worth it when he got to come home Thursday and surprise his two young boys at their day care.

Making things even better, Conley says this time it’s for good as he is officially retired from service.

Conley chose to surprise his two sons Caden and Cole at their day care “Kids R Kids” in Flower Mound.

He described that moment saying “”It was really heartwarming. It’s an indescribable feeling.”

After six years of service with the Navy Conley has a new mission in life, “Being able to just help my wife and being a father and a husband that’s probably what I’m most looking forward to the most.”

His wife, Lindsey added, “I’m just really proud of him. No one can take those six years away, he served that.”

As he played with his boys at home in their living room Conley reflected on his decision to leave the Navy and return to civilian life in North Texas.

He said he had made a promise to his family that he would return to them soon. Now he’s just glad he can keep that promise.

He said, “I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. Since January.”
