DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Police in Dallas have new clues in the murder of teenager Zoe Hastings, and her family is now hoping that they can help out as well. The family will be holding a vigil at Norbuck Park on Thursday, and canvassing the area around White Rock Lake.
Police stated that Hastings stopped at a Walgreens store, located along Garland Road, to return a Redbox movie between 4:40 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday evening. Investigators said that she was on her way to church.
The 18-year-old girl was found dead inside of her family’s van in a creek on Monday. Officials have not said how she was killed as that detail is only known by the suspect.
Police combed over the area for hours, checking nearby neighborhoods for clues. Authorities are now asking anyone who lives around this location to check their home surveillance systems for anything that might help in the investigation — a glimpse of the white Honda Odyssey minivan or any suspicious behavior.
Police are also trying to locate Walgreens customers who were at the store at the same time as Hastings, and might remember seeing her there. They may have information that would help lead authorities to the suspect. There is a $10,000 reward being offered.
Family members and friends of the victim will be looking for more clues on Thursday night after a 5:00 p.m. vigil. The funeral for Hastings will be held on Saturday.
