After officers failed to establish contact with the man and tried for hours to verify his safety, the department’s SWAT and Hostage Negotiation teams were sent in.

The teams negotiated with him for two hours before the man willingly left his house and “surrendered without incident or injury,” police say. He was taken to a local hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
