RED OAK (CBSDFW.COM) – A fire apparently started in a house keeping room on the second floor at the Red Oak Comfort Inn led to the evacuation of the entire facility Monday afternoon.

The Red Oak Police Department and says it and the Red Oak Fire Department got the call around 1:20 p.m.

When they got there hotels guests were evacuating the hotel with visible smoke coming from the building.

The Red Oak Police Department closed direct access into the property and temporarily redirected northbound traffic from the N. IH-35E East Service Road onto IH-3E.

A total of 35 rooms were occupied and all were evacuated.

The internal fire sprinkler system had contained the fire to the house keeping room and the Red Oak Fire Department suppressed the remaining fire.

The hotel has a large amount of smoke and water damage from the fire.

No one was hurt.
