DALLAS (KRLD) – Black Friday came early for many shoppers in North Texas today. H&M debuted a new high end fashion line for affordable prices.
The Paris fashion line Balmain partnered with H&M to release the line for H&M collection. The only place in North Texas to shop the line in person is at Dallas’s NorthPark Center. Starting at 5 a.m. a line was out the door as crowds were slowly let in as small groups.
“Balmain is like a really old French fashion house, and their prices are normally astronomically high,” says one eager shopper. “The chance to shop Balmain and get it for an H&M price is super exciting.”
Balmain teamed up with H&M in May to create this more affordable line that they hope will draw in more customers. Their store at NorthPark and others nationwide opened for shopping at 8 a.m. today.
After shoppers were let in, they were given a wristband. Depending on the time they arrived, everyone got a certain color, which corresponded to a 15-minute time slot. That 15 minutes was their limited time to shop.
Joseph Harvey was one of the first customers to enter and leave H&M with two pair of jeans, a sweater, a shirt and a jacket. He bought all that for $600. “I can’t even comprehend how much I just saved,” he says. “Balmain jeans usually go for $1500 a pair. I just spent $200 for two pair. This is so crazy.”
Shoppers say waking up early and spending the morning in line was worth it, because nobody was about to risk shopping online.
Harvey explained that he was determined. “I’ve seen a lot of error messages on the website and servers kept crashing online. My only option was to come here and get it.”
