NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Belgians in Texas have cause for concern after the country has placed its capital of Brussels at the countries highest terror alert level.

“I’m sad. I fear for my little country. What do terrorists want there?” asked one Belgian living in Dallas. He didn’t want CBS11 to use his name out of fear.

People in Belgium are warned to avoid sporting events, airports and concerts.

The country sites a “serious and imminent threat that requires taking specific security measures as well as specific recommendations for the population.”

The increased alert comes one week after the terror attacks in Paris.

The Belgian Embassy in New York has yet to appoint a new consul to replace the former located in Mansfield.
