DALLAS (CBS11) – Adriana and Christopher Torres say four days ago, thieves broke-in through the back door of their northeast Dallas home and stole their big TV’s and computers with all of their key information and keep-sakes.READ MORE: Dallas County Surpasses 3,000 COVID-19 Deaths, 25 More Reported Tuesday
Mrs. Torres says she’s, “Shocked. More than anything. My biggest concern is all I kept thinking was all of our daughters’ stuff gone, the memories, the pictures, the videos.”
She says the burglars tried to steal as much as possible, without much regard to what they were taking, including something so precious to one of their daughters.
Torres says, “It was a pearl rosary specially made by her grandmother and she just couldn’t understand why that was stolen, especially what they’re doing, she just couldn’t comprehend.”
The thieves went from one extreme to the next and also stole, “Detergent, softener and the bleach.”
The couple say police told them thieves hit six other homes in their neighborhood on Thursday, and that another six homes in a nearby neighborhood were hit the week before.READ MORE: 'We Still Don't Have Herd Immunity': North Texas Healthcare Community Concerned About Removal Of Mask Mandate
Mr. Torres says the burglary is unsettling. “For a few days, I didn’t what to feel. I didn’t know how angry I was, if I wanted to cry, and just kind of in limbo.”
He says they are still concerned the thieves will return.
They found shoes and one of their suitcases left behind. “I’m worried they’ll come back because they know what we still have and what they didn’t take.”
The couple say they believe the thieves watched them for weeks, and warn others to be vigilant who’s in their neighborhood.
They say they have installed a burglar alarm and they are changing their habits to keep this from happening again.
