LAKE DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The remaining portion of the North Denton/Lake Dallas Drive bridge over Interstate 35E is scheduled to be demolished Friday, Dec. 11 through Sunday, Dec. 13. In preparation for this work, AGL Constructors will implement several detours and ramp changes in the Lake Dallas/Hickory Creek area.
Southbound Frontage Road Detour
Â· The southbound frontage road detour is being constructed between the North Denton/Lake Dallas Drive bridge and the connector road at Turbeville Road. Traffic will be moved onto this new roadway between 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 and 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4.
Northbound Frontage Road Detour
Â· Crews demolished a portion of the North Denton/Lake Dallas Drive bridge in November. Work is now focused on constructing a new detour for the northbound frontage road. This detour is expected to open between 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 and 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4.
Southbound Entrance and Exit Ramp Changes
Â· The southbound entrance ramp to I-35E south of Swisher Road will be converted into an exit ramp. This change will be permanent. The existing ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 through 6 a.m. Friday, Dec 4.
Â· The southbound exit ramp to I-35E will be converted into an entrance ramp. This change will be permanent. The existing ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 through 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.
During this work, there will be a stop sign placed at the intersection of westbound South Denton/Lake Dallas Drive and the I-35E frontage road. A police officer will be at this location during this operation.
North Denton Drive Bridge Demolition
Â· The North Denton/Lake Dallas Drive bridge will be demolished overnight between 9 p.m. and 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11 through Sunday, Dec. 13. North and southbound I-35E traffic will be routed to the north and southbound frontage roads while this work is being performed.
This closure is related to the 35Express project, an expansion of I-35E between U.S. Highway 380 in Denton County and I-635 in Dallas County. All closures are subject to weather conditions and may be postponed, if necessary.
