DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) – At his Monday afternoon press conference, Jason Garrett confirmed that the team is sticking with Matt Cassel as the starting quarterback for this Saturday’s matchup against the New York Jets.

“Matt Cassel will be our starting quarterback this week,” said Garrett. “Our sole objective is to win this game on Saturday night, and Matt Cassel gives us the best opportunity to do that.”

It will be interesting to see if the team eventually turns to backup quarterback Kellen Moore when the team is eliminated from contention.

Garrett did say that they would like to evaluate a young player, but they were focused on winning this weekend’s game against the Jets.

Dallas is now two games behind the Redskins and the Eagles in the NFC East. If the Giants beat the Dolphins tonight, they’ll also be tied for first place with Washington and Philadelphia.
