DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas Police arrested a man Tuesday for using a deceased woman’s credit card.
Police say back in October, Maria Nieto died in a car crash and her body was taken to Calvario Funeral Home in Dallas.
Nieto’s body was received by Juan Vasquez, 33.
Four days later, Nieto’s sister began receiving emails on Nieto’s account showing charges being made to her credit card.
Family members checked Nieto’s personal property and discovered her credit card was missing.
Dallas Police Financial Crimes detectives contacted several establishments in which Nieto’s credit card was fraudulently used and was able to obtain photo evidence of Juan Vasquez using Nieto’s stolen credit card.
Vasquez was arrested Tuesday and charged with credit card abuse, a state jail felony.
