FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM/AP) – A Dallas County sheriff’s detention officer is recovering in a Fort Worth hospital after he was shot in the chin during an attempted robbery while getting some money from an ATM.
Authorities say the officer was at a credit union in Arlington around 1:00 a.m. Thursday when two people approached and tried to rob him.
All three scuffled and the officer was able to get to his vehicle. The two suspects chased him, another fight broke out and the officer was shot.
The would-be robbers took and the officer managed to drive to a fire station nearby to get help.
His name hasn’t been released.
The sheriff’s department says the wound isn’t life threatening and the officer should recover.
