OVILLA (CBSDFW.COM) — Grace Church of Ovilla shared its service with the members of Ovilla Road Church of the Nazarene on Sunday, after a tornado damaged the latter church last week.
Grace Church of Ovilla is less than a mile away from Ovilla Road Church of the Nazarene. The service took place at 10:30 a.m.
“We’re meeting new people, but it had that feel of seeing old friends,” Grace Church of Ovilla Pastor Justin Jackson said. “We just got along really well today.”
Ovilla Road Church of the Nazarene was damaged in the rash of tornadoes that hit the Dallas area, killing 11 people Christmas weekend. Gov. Greg Abbot declared Ellis County, along with three others, disaster areas in the wake of the storms.
“We’ve never accepted the fact that this is a bad thing,” Ovilla Road Church of the Nazarene Pastor Ron Adams said. “We know that God has a plan for us and that he’ll continue to move us forward, and we’re just excited about it.”
