DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – An armed carjacking in South Oak Cliff turned sour for the alleged thieves after Dallas Police said both men could not actually drive the car they were attempting to steal.

Investigators said two men approached the driver of a Ford Mustang GT along the 6000 block of Hidden Trail. They demanded the car, a fight broke out and the owner of the vehicle ended up grazed in the leg by a bullet after shots were fired.

Police said the suspects tried to speed off but could not get the car out of gear. Investigators believe the suspects did not know how to drive a stick-shift or manual transmission and kept stalling the car.

The suspects ran off on foot and have not been located.

The victim did not need medical attention and was able to drive his car home after investigators collected evidence.
