Benjamin Newman is charged with one count of Murder and three counts of Aggravated Assault after the incident in April of 2014.

Police say Newman had been drinking and playing at The Hang Out Patio Bar, along northbound Central Expressway near Parker Road.  At some point the then 22-year-old got into a skirmish and was asked to leave. Bouncers and other employees at the bar didn’t think Newman should be driving and tried to take his keys — but he refused to give them up.

Once in his car, Newman allegedly drove drove through the bar parking lot, ran down four people, and fled from the scene. Newman was arrested a short distance from the bar.
