SAGINAW (CBSDFW.COM) – Newly-released video shows Saginaw police killing an out-of-control, shirtless man named Michael Dale Brown.
A police spokesman gave a frame-by-frame account, during a press conference, of four dash-cam videos showing what happened Saturday night on Old Decatur Road.
The video shows the 25-year-old damaging cars and assaulting people, including an elderly couple who had their heads bashed into the pavement outside their home.
Another camera view shows Brown attacking a citizen while running through and around pursuing officers. Brown was hit with two taser shots but it didn’t stop him. When he charged and hit an officer, police opened fire and Brown, dropped to the ground and later died.
“I do know that the family is grieving we want to send our prayers to them at this time I do know that as a profession we definitely don’t want this to happen and this is an unfortunate circumstance that took place,” said Sergeant Damon Ing with the Saginaw Police Department.
Police said they released the videos to be as transparent as possible.
One of the 3 citizens hurt are still in the hospital. An officer who suffered a concussion remains on medical leave.
A toxicology report could help explain why Brown was acting in a way that got him killed.
