Police referred to the incidents as assaults in a community alert sent out Saturday. In both instances, police say the women were walking toward their residences when a man approached them and grabbed them. The alert says both women were able to fight off the suspect, and he fled both locations.
The first attack happened around 10:50 p.m. on Friday, according to police. The woman was walking from her car to her home at the Hilton Head Apartments, at 11440 McCree Rd., when the man approached her. Police say the man grabbed her, putting his hand over her mouth and nose, and she screamed and fought. She tripped him, causing them both to fall to the ground. Police say a neighbor heard the woman’s screams and came to help, and the suspect ran toward Jupiter Road.
Police describe this suspect as a 30- to 33-year-old, 5-foot-8 black man with black hair wearing gloves and all black clothing.READ MORE: Loophole In Federal Surprise Medical Bill Ban Leaves Patients At Risk Of High, Unexpected Ambulance Bills
About 15 minutes later, police say a different woman was walking toward her home through the parking lot of the Villas at La Risa Apartments — at 12825 Jupiter Rd., on the opposite side of Jupiter Road from the Hilton Head Apartments — when a man grabbed her from behind. Police say the man pulled the woman behind a dumpster, pushed her to the ground and began choking her, with one hand on her throat and the other on her mouth. The woman kicked and screamed until the suspect ran off, heading northbound on Jupiter Road, police say. A neighbor who heard the screaming chased the suspect until he lost sight of the man.
Police describe that suspect as a black man wearing black coveralls. The woman couldn’t give any other details, according to the alert.
Since the attacks were so close in distance and time, police say detectives are investigating whether they were committed by the same suspect. Those with information are asked to call the Dallas Police Assaults Unit at 214-671-3593.MORE NEWS: 1 Dead, 1 Injured After Shooting In Forest Hill
