DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Law enforcement officials in Dallas have arrested a suspected serial rapist. Samuel White was taken into custody Tuesday morning in the 7500 block of Chesterfield Drive in connection with two sex assault cases.
Police found White after receiving an anonymous tip. He is currently on suicide watch and his bond is set at $250,000.
Now, authorities are wondering if White is behind even more attacks.
The Dallas Police Department released a video from this past September which shows a woman being attacked and beaten at a train station on Walnut Hill Lane. Officers identified White as the 27-year-old suspect.
According to authorities, White is the same man seen on a convenience store’s surveillance camera video after another woman was raped in northeast Dallas. “These pictures look exactly identical,” stated Deputy Chief Rob Sherwin from the Dallas Police Department on Monday. “The same shoes, the same shorts, the same shirt. It looks just like him. The same bald spot.”
Then, this past Friday night, two more women were attacked in Dallas, this time at two separate apartment complexes close to the intersection of the LBJ Freeway and Jupiter Road. Police are now trying to figure out if the same suspect is responsible for these attacks as well.
“It’s clear now that he may be a serial predator,” Sherwin added.
White has previously been convicted of drug possession, trespassing and resisting arrest. He does not have a history of violent crimes.
Customers at the Walnut Hill Lane train station on Monday were shocked by the September video, and startled by how simple it would be for White to blend in. “He looks like a lot of normal people you’d see around here,” said a woman who did not want to share her full name. “That’s really scary.”
