MIDLOTHIAN (CBS11) – A murder suspect’s strange behavior and SWAT costume are raising questions questions about the motive behind a deadly church break-in.

Surveillance video shows someone dressed in tactical gear with a jacket marked “POLICE” walking around inside the Creekside Church of Christ building in Midlothian just before 4:00 a.m. Monday.

A helmet and gloves help hide the intruder’s identity.

Police say he was inside the church when 45-year-old Terri “Missy” Bevers arrived to lead a Camp Gladiator fitness class.

Bevers has advertised the class date and time online.

Her last social media post read, “Goodnight all. I have to get up at 3:30am. See you bright and early.”

Police say the intruder attacked Bevers, leaving her with traumatic injuries that ultimately led to her death.

They say she may have interrupted a burglary, but call the timing odd.

The video shows the intruder wandering the halls, but never actually taking anything.

“This is not kind of your routine burglary. I don’t want to say anything’s routine, but if somebody’s going to try to go to burglarize a business they’re going to get in and get out and try to grab as much stuff as they can and then leave,” said attorney and former police officer Pete Schulte.

Schulte says the intruder’s police tactical uniform may also prompt investigators to dig deeper.

“It is going to raise the awareness of the police department that there may be something more here than just a burglary or even a murder. Something else was going on here and they’re going to try to uncover it.”

Meantime, Oak Farms Dairy is offering a $10,000 reward in connection with the murder of Terri “Missy” Bevers.
