Prince, one of the greatest and most influential artists of all-time, has died at the age of 57.
Prince’s music has lasted many generations and fans across the world are mourning the death of a man they knew. However, there are some things you may NOT have known about the musical genius:
PRINCE WOULD GO TO MCDONALD’S TO SMELL THE FOOD
In a 1985 Rolling Stone interview, Prince said he struggled in his early days and couldn’t afford food. “I didn’t have any money, so I’d just stand outside McDonald’s and smell stuff.”
PRINCE ATE SPAGEHETTI AND DRANK ORANGE JUICE WHILE FILMING PURPLE RAIN
In Greatest Hits: 25 Years of Heretics, Heroes and the Rock N Roll, Director Albert Magnoli said Prince would feast on spaghetti and orange juice at a nearby Denny’s during filming.
MICHAEL JACKSON’S “BAD” WAS TO BE A PRINCE DUET
When the King of Pop was writing the song “Bad” he did so with the intention of a duet with Prince. Unfortunately, it never came to be because Prince was uncomfortable with the song’s subject matter and opening line, “Your butt is mine.”
PRINCE DID THE BATMAN SOUNDTRACK BECAUSE OF KIM BASINGER
Initially, Prince was asked by director Tim Burton to record a few songs for the 1989 album. However, Prince was infatuated with the movie’s co-star Kim Basinger and ended up recording the entire album after meeting her.
PRINCE PLAYED GUITAR ON MADONNA’S “LIKE A PRAYER”
A gifted guitarist, Prince played rhythm guitar on Madonna’s controversial track, but was not officially credited.
PRINCE LOVED ZOOEY DESCHANEL AND HER SHOW NEW GIRL
Many were surprised when Prince appeared on the FOX sitcom, but not Zooey. Prince emailed Deschanel and told her he watch only two things on TV … New Girl and the news.
PRINCE HAD A LARGE AMOUNT OF UNHEARD RECORDINGS
In Prince: Chaoes, Disorder and Revolution, Prince revealed that he had an extensive archieve of unused songs and assorted abandoned video projects in a storeroom he called The Vault in his Paisley Park studio compound … Hopefully we’ll hear those very soon.
