Police say the incident happened December 12, 2015 at a home in the 6600 block of Fair Meadows.  EMS responded to a call about a child not breathing.  She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner ruled the child’s death a homicide caused by asphyxiation on April 14, 2016.

On April 15, police arrested and charged Anthony Sanders with capital murder and he’s in the North Richland Hills Jail with bond set at $1 million.

Police say back in December at the home and the hospital, officers “observed significant acute bruising on the child’s face, head and body.”

During the investigation, police learned Sanders had been caring for his 2-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son while his wife, the mother of the kids, was attending an art show.

When the mother got home, police say her son told her his sister was sleeping.  About 30 minutes later, Anthony Sanders went into the bedroom to check on his daughter and he saw she wasn’t breathing and told his wife to call 911.

Police say the family had no history with Child Protective Services.
