DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Hundreds of customers in Deep Ellum are left trying to get their hands on important packages and letters that belong to them. This after a postal business abruptly shutdown and locked them out.
Some of the mail was re-directed to the United States Postal Service and the Juanita Craft Post Office on Grand Avenue. But on Monday morning some customers still weren’t walking out with all their property. Many are concerned some of their mail is still locked inside the now-closed Deep Ellum business.
Deep Ellum Postal & Grocer, formerly at 3100 Main Street, shuttered their doors on Wednesday. The landlord claimed the owners were months behind on rent.
Many people used mailboxes at the business not just for personal reasons, but for business purposes.
Notices left on the door of Deep Ellum Postal direct customers to the USPS office about a mile away, to pick up their mail.
Some customers have not only been inconvenienced, the closure is costing them time and money. One man said, “I have two businesses that I run through this post office and funding usually comes at the first of the month… it’s between that window up until the 4th. I just got my mail and none of my funding is here. So I don’t know where it is.”
The owner of the parcel center apologized on social media to the customers he says he felt he let down.
The property manager will reportedly allow customers inside the business, to pick up their parcels, today and tomorrow between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
