According to investigators, the young girl got tangled up in rope and fell off the back of a pontoon boat hitting the motor.

Captain Game Warden Mike Hanson said it was “purely an accident.”

“No alcohol was involved. Her father was driving the boat. It was just your typical family outing that turned tragic,” Hanson said.

At the time of the accident, four adults and four children were on the boat.

Hanson said all the children were wearing life jackets.

“These are by far the worst types of accidents,” Hanson said. “You just can’t explain it.”
