DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Police have identified missing Southern Methodist University campus police officer Mark McCullers as the man whose car was swept away in the fast-rising waters of Turtle Creek Tuesday morning.
Police still haven’t found the marine and father of six.
“Our prayers and thoughts are with the officer’s family members and other loved ones as the search continues,” Chief Richard Shafer with the SMU Police Department said in a statement on Tuesday.
Turtle Creek was filled with rainwater when McCullers called for help just after 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday. He said that the water was starting to come up over the hood of his white Dodge, and that he felt his car moving.
Surveillance video from a nearby home shows the officer abandoning his vehicle before it was taken away by the water.
