GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM) – According to the Grapevine Fire Department chief, a 30-year-old off-duty Grapevine firefighter drowned Saturday at Lake Grapevine.READ MORE: 1 Injured, At Least 24 Units Destroyed After Fire At Fort Worth Apartment Complex
The chief said the body was recovered around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
The fire department confirmed the name of the firefighter was James McKenzie.

The fire department said McKenzie and his friend attempted to swim to shore from their anchored boat.
The friend made it to shore safely.
According to fire department, McKenzie was not wearing flotation device.
