Paramedics took the boy to a nearby hospital where he later died.
Jasmine Reyes and her family were setting up a barbecue nearby when they saw the police collecting evidence by the beach. She said this is a painful reminder of how quickly a tragedy can happen.
“It’s heartbreaking, but I mean they were about to leave. They did the right thing putting that floating device on the child, but kids are so quick. As soon as you take your eyes off of them, they’re gone,” Reyes said.
