Pantego police say they investigated the incident and after speaking with prosecutors at the District Attorney’s Office have filed charges against 25-year-old Jonathon Christian Ballard.

According to police, it was just before the lunch hour on August 10 when there was a report of a child left inside a vehicle. By the time police arrived the little girl’s mother was there who along with Ballard had taken the baby girl out of the vehicle and inside the gym.

Emergency medical service workers found that the girl was no longer in distress. The baby was red-faced and her core temperature was up slightly, so paramedics took her to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth as a precaution.

The child was released from the hospital the same day and is doing fine.

Meanwhile, Ballard has been charged with Abandoning or Endangering a Child through Criminal Negligence. Police say he is expected to surrender early next week. Ballard’s bond has been set at $2,000.
