BEDFORD (CBSDFW.COM) – After a nationwide search, the city of Bedford has hired Sean Fay as its new fire chief.
Fay has over 25 years of experience in fire service and is currently with the city of Rowlett as an Assistant Fire Chief. He also serves as the fire department’s public information officer, arson investigator, professional standards investigator, and IT manager. He previously worked part-time as the fire chief and fire marshal for the city of Fate.
Sean Fay holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwood University and is a student in the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program. He is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Texas Fire Chiefs Association, International Association of Arson Investigators, Texas Line of Duty Death Task Force, North Texas Honor Guard Society, Fire Instructors Association of North Texas, and National Internal Affairs Investigators Association.
Three semifinalists were interviewed on September 21, and Fay was selected from the group of experienced candidates to fill this position. He will begin his employment on October 19, 2016.
