DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Columbus may have discovered the new world in 1492…. but that can’t compare to the discovery of cotton candy on one corner, corny dogs on the other and a petting zoo on yet another -if you’re 5-years-old and at the State Fair of Texas.
By the thousands, kids led moms and dads, and in some cases grandparents by the hand to see all things that come with the state fair.
There are some educational exhibits at the fair, surely that’s what the students come to see. “They’re lying. We come to have fun, talk, eat, get on rides, play games,” says Angela Cazares.
Well, some folks do come to learn. “We get into the food and fiber pavilion, introduce them to Texas agriculture, I’m a landscape architect, so I like to get them into the planting and growing and different things,” comments Curtis Scroggins.
It wasn’t only 28 separate school districts at the fair on Columbus day, but lots of families too.
“My grandkids recently moved here from Atlanta, I wanted them to experience the fair,” said one grandparent.
