ADDISON (CBSDFW.COM) – Today marked the first election for some North Texas high school students who are finally old enough to vote.
But at Trinity Christian Academy, some seniors did more than cast ballots to show their excitement for the democratic process.
Some students from a government class volunteered at Redeemer Covenant Church in Carrollton. They said despite what some might think, the election is important to their generation too.
“No, we do know what’s going on. We have Twitter and Instagram and can hear so much going on all the time, and we have an opinion about it and young people will be the ones in charge of this country one day,” explained one student. “It’s so important to put our votes out and put our voices in the world.”
The students worked in shifts so they could vote and still attend other classes.
