FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Students at Keller ISD’s Fossil Ridge High School are complaining about rodents scurrying through the hallways, distracting them from their studies and posing a health problem.
Parents are understandably concerned.
“If one of these [rats] does fall out and bites or scratches any one of these children, not just mine, then they’re going to have more issues than just me complaining that there are rats running around the school or kids freaking out,” said parent Krystal Hosea.
Her youngest son, a freshman, sent Hosea a text saying that there were rats everywhere – in the ceiling, the lights and running across the floor.
Hosea is disgusted.
Between her two sons, she said they saw three rodents in the first two hours of school Wednesday and more Thursday. Hosea also said one of her sons heard classmates screaming about crossing paths with rats.
The Keller Independent School District sent CBS 11 the following statement: “New construction in the area disturbs small animal populations, causing them to migrate to neighboring structures, not exclusive to a school. Keller ISD is aware and is taking steps to remedy the problem.”
The school district also sent a letter to parents Thursday. But some parents said it simply isn’t enough.
