FRONTON, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – The Department of Public Safety identified the state trooper who was injured at the Texas-Mexico border by gunfire from Mexico Friday.

According to DPS, Trooper III Danny Shaw was the officer who was struck in the leg by what appeared to be an errant bullet that came from the Mexico side of the border across the Rio Grande.

Shaw has been with the Texas Highway Patrol for over eight years and is stationed in Terrell which is in Kaufman County.

DPS has said that Shaw is in stable condition and the wound is non-life-threatening.
